England's Greatest Suit?

So many people have written expressing admiration for the trousers I wore to the Lady Gaga concert that it would rightly be considered an act of base contumely not to introduce you to their upper half. Gentlemen, allow me to present the Cordings Firley jacket.

Certainty is absurd
Combined with the Firley trousers, there's an argument to be had that we are bearing witness to England's greatest suit. It has to be close, though we can't be certain. Doubt may be an uncomfortable position, but certainty is absurd.

19 ounces of bliss
Firley is a 19 oz herringbone tweed made from Scottish wool.

The Firley jacket has three buttons, ticket pockets and working cuffs. Cordings say you will 'not find a better off-the-peg jacket anywhere', so why keep looking?

Cordings — Collect them all!
The suit also has the capability of becoming a three-piecer. Cordings has a collared waistcoat available in the same tweed, as well as plus-twos, plus-fours and a shooting waistcoat. I'm not entirely sure why the waistcoat hasn't yet joined its loyal and hardy chums in my wardrobe, though I'm not intending to leave the collection at two pieces.

  1. Could you post a picture of the shoulders, with the coat buttoned, while you raise your arm as if hailing a taxi far away?

    1. Sideways would maybe even be better, thinking about it.

    2. You're very specific, Philip. I like it. But I won't do it. Best wishes, Tweedy

    3. I hope it's not because of the association with unfortunate political movements. One can always have the palm face upwards.

  2. So wish I had bought one of these. I went for a bespoke suit made by a company called 'In Tweed' and was really disappointed. I am now back to Cordings for shirts, trousers and suits. An excellent company, wish I had never left them.

    1. Everything about Cordings is perfect. The latest consignment has just arrived at Tweed Towers. I'm insatiable.

  3. Ahh, Cordings tweed! I have the Elland, which is much more wearable at 13 oz, but even that has limited use in subtropical Brisbane. 19 oz eould be stifling. That said, the fabric is superb, and the finishing is as good as it should be. Jealous. But do enjoy it! Tony

    1. Thanks Tony. It's a great suit. It's a bit young yet, needs lots of breaking in. Best wishes, Tweedy
