To the American reader who was looking for John Tulloch sweaters, I haven't forgotten your quest for the thicker end of British sweaterdom. We didn't mention Cro' Jack, and they do some real 'thickies' like my cardigan. And they're all made in England to boot (see video below).

Take a look at Cro' Jack's flecked Dapple sweater above, which I would say has all the requisite British ruggedness our reader is seeking. I could even imagine Jack Hawkins wearing it in Home at Seven. But that's quite possibly just me. It has a good spread on the neck for a button-down shirt to sit nicely underneath, my American chums.
